In April 2015, an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 hit Nepal. Over 9,000 people lost their lives and 23,000 were injured. Hundreds of thousands lost their homes or were displaced and centuries-old buildings were destroyed at UNESCO World Heritage sites in the Kathmandu Valley. While we are several months removed from this disaster, our Nepalese brothers and sisters still need help.
Coming Together: A United Filipino American Community Response
In November 2013, Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda struck Tacloban. The devastation was horrific as it was seen across all mainstream media outlets. As we watched the events unfold, our community took action and responded by forming PHC. But, something just as incredible happened. Other communities rallied together and donated large sums of money to the recovery and rebuilding efforts. No one asked these communities for donations. They simply felt it was their duty to help in any way they could.
With families still working through the recovery process in Nepal, our communities know the struggle to rebuild. That's why PHC, PACC-DC, and Veterans Pantry have come together to lend their hands.
A portion of proceeds will go to All Hands Volunteers to aid survivors in Nepal. For information on the All Hands Volunteers assistance, see http://hands.org/projects/nepal-earthquake-response/
